The annual ceremony recognizes excellence across 15 categories, honoring restaurants, chefs, and industry leaders whose work strengthens the city’s culinary identity.

Industry representatives said the awards underscore the importance of innovation, quality, and cultural preservation in Mexicali’s diverse food landscape. Organized by the local CANIRAC chapter, the event highlighted both established institutions and emerging talent, reaffirming the restaurant sector’s role in the region’s economic and cultural development.

Creto Cafetería was named Cafeteria of the Year, while Ojo Rojo received the award for Asian Food Restaurant of the Year. Tseek Café earned the honor of Franchise of the Year, and 653 Pizzas & Beer was selected as Fast Food Restaurant of the Year.

El Sonorense received the Restaurant Career Achievement Award for its long-standing trajectory in the community. The Museo Valle de Mexicali was recognized as Themed Restaurant of the Year, and Tacos Yubbys was named Taco Shop of the Year. Golden China earned the distinction of Young Restaurateur of the Year.

CANIRAC Mexicali President Alan Diego Valenzuela Villa also presented a special recognition to La Cenaduría Selecta during the event.

The National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry (CANIRAC) describes its mission as representing, integrating, educating, promoting, and defending the interests of businesses that prepare and sell food across Mexico. The organization operates as a national business chamber focused on supporting establishments of all sizes within the restaurant sector.

CANIRAC says it works to strengthen industry development by maintaining dialogue with government agencies and other sectors, while offering a variety of services intended to benefit its members and the general public.
