The City of El Centro invites residents, businesses, and community partners to attend the 2025 State of the City Address, hosted by Mayor Sonia Carter, on Thursday, November 20, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the El Centro Library Community Room, 1198 North Imperial Avenue.
This year’s theme, “Your Reflection, Our City,” focuses on the progress, resilience, and community spirit that continue to shape El Centro. The program will highlight major accomplishments across City departments, including neighborhood improvements, public safety advancements, new community programs, workforce development efforts, and infrastructure investments.
“The State of the City tells the story of where we’ve been and where we’re going,” said Mayor Carter. “This year, that story is one of growth, connection, and a shared commitment to making El Centro stronger for every resident.”
The address will share updates on long-term planning projects, including the Imperial Avenue Complete Streets Plan, the new housing development support, and more. Residents will also hear about expanded library programs, revitalized recreation and youth activities, the reopening of the Old Post Office as a cultural hub, and major upgrades to parks and public facilities. The City will highlight milestones from the Fire and Police departments, including the new Police Headquarters, upgraded technology, the Fire Department’s strategic planning and accreditation efforts, and the acquisition of the Rosenbauer ladder truck.
Additional insights will include achievements in information technology, cybersecurity readiness, human resources initiatives, employee recognition programs, and improvements through the Community Development Block Grant.
The evening will begin with arrival and a cocktail hour from 6 to 6:45 p.m., followed by a performance from the Visual and Performing Arts Team from Lincoln Elementary School at 6:45 p.m.
The State of the City Address will begin at 7 p.m., and the program will conclude with dinner and live music at 8 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
